Sila Plateau
In a few kilometers you pass from the shores of the sea to the kingdom of oaks and chestnut trees, the pines and firs announce the high pastures of the alpine flora.
In the province of Cosenza the Pollino chain rises with granite rocks over 2,000 meters, descending towards the South we reach the Sila plateau which stands out in Sila Grande, Sila Piccola and Sila Greca.
Since ancient times it has been given the name of "Great forest of Italy" for the immense forests of pine and beech trees.
Inside the Sila there are centers of absolute beauty such as Camigliatello and San Giovanni in Fiore. Further south, the Serre calabre with Serra San Bruno, the lake of Angitola and Mangiatorella with the ancient noble residence of Ferdinandea. In the Province of Reggio Calabria, Aspromonte advances its buttresses almost to the coast. Forests and ravines that alternate, give the area a special attraction; the highest point is dominated by a colossal statue of the Christ in bronze.
Gambarie is the most famous health resort, frequented in summer for the holiday, and for winter sports in the snow season.
